Rob Macdonald is a Partner in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. Rob maintains a general civil and commercial litigation practice with a focus on debtor and creditor disputes, mortgage litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency litigation, real estate disputes and insurance litigation.

Rob has acted for individuals and corporations, including banks, financial lenders, developers, and energy companies in a variety of matters including shareholder and partnership disputes, oppression remedy proceedings, insurance coverage disputes, negligence claims, injunctive proceedings, contractual disputes and a variety of debtor-creditor disputes. Rob has  appeared at every level of the Court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and various administrative tribunals.

Rob completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University before attending the University of New Brunswick for law school.

Prior to joining Fogler, Rubinoff in 2014, Rob articled and practiced with a commercial litigation firm in Toronto. Rob was admitted to the bar in Ontario in 2011.

Lori has a broad business law practice with an emphasis on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.

She advises clients regularly on complex commercial contracts and general corporate matters. Lori has acted for entrepreneurs and start-ups as well as multinational companies in domestic and cross-border transactions. She advises both private and public entities, and acts for investors/lenders as well as investees/borrowers. Lori has advised clients on investment structures, private equity and venture capital transactions, shareholder and partnership agreements, share and asset purchases, business combinations, reorganizations and security arrangements. She has acted on various private and public financings, involving both debt and equity.

Lori represents Canadian and international clients in a broad range of industries including technology, entertainment, manufacturing, transportation, natural resources and consumer products. She is Co-chair of the FR Women’s Network and a member of the firm’s Business Development Committee.

Lori speaks regularly to professional and industry groups about topics that relate to business law, such as business structures, how to position your company for growth, access to capital and questions to ask before becoming a company director.

Nina is a Partner with Fogler, Rubinoff LLP where she practices corporate commercial litigation. 

Her practice is concentrated on complex litigation matters and contract disputes for large corporate clients. In addition to proceedings in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal, Nina maintains a significant arbitration practice which includes many shareholder and partner disputes in closely held corporations, partnerships and joint ventures.

She has appeared before all levels of Court in Ontario and has acted as counsel in matters involving shareholders’ rights and remedies including authoring the paper “Using the Oppression Remedy to Resolve Family Business Disputes” published in the Annual Review of Civil Litigation, and has worked extensively on litigation matters involving issues related to the Ontario Business Corporations Act and the Canada Business Corporations Act.  Nina has also acted as counsel in, real estate litigation, and accountants’ negligence claims. 

 In addition to acting for her clients on litigation matters, Nina is also a close and trusted advisor to her clients and is often called upon to assist and advise in connection with her clients’ businesses, operations and strategic planning. In many cases, she has become a vital and instrumental resource to her clients, a stabilizing force during challenging periods, and reliable source for connecting her clients with industry players to create synergies.

Nina is an active volunteer in her community and is the past Chair of Villa Charities, a not-for-profit organization which she has been involved with since 1989, and sits on their Foundation Board. She is also the past Vice-Chair of the St. Michael’s College School Board of Directors. In addition to her volunteer work, Nina is also involved in a variety of pro bono legal work, including acting as a supervisor of the University of Toronto Moots.   Nina is actively involved in the firm’s mentoring program, a past member of Foglers Executive Committee and a mother of two boys.

Young acts for clients in industries including technology, mining, energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, logistics, education, entertainment, food and beverage, consumer electronics, home appliances and accounting and audit services.

Matt is a Partner in the Business Law Group. Matt’s practice focuses on assisting businesses on broad range of corporate, commercial and business matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, financing transactions, partnership and shareholder arrangements, corporate reorganizations and complex commercial agreements.

In addition to his transactional practice, Matt provides strategic advice to his clients on a wide range of matters impacting their business, often with a significant cross-border component. His clients include both Canadian and US private equity funds, family offices, investment banks, owner-operator businesses, emerging companies and multi-national businesses across a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, marketing and advertising, food & beverage, communications, insurance, emerging technologies and real estate.

Ken practises solely in the area of construction law with an emphasis on claims and dispute management.

Certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by the Law Society of Ontario since 2002, Ken has provided legal counsel to owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and surety bonding companies for over 25 years.

Working together with other members of the firm, Ken provides clients with services that include: assistance with bidding, tendering and the RFP/RFQ process, contract review and negotiation, construction liens, claims for negligence, extended duration, delay and claims management including early detection and timely resolution of disputes through mediation, arbitration and litigation.

Ken regularly chairs and participates in the Law Society of Ontario’s Continuing Legal Education programs and speaks to industry groups including the Canadian Institute, EPIC, Infones and numerous Ontario Bar Association (OBA) programs on construction. He is past chair of the OBA’s Construction Law section and is a sessional lecturer for the University of Toronto’s Engineering Master’s Program on construction law and contract administration.

Rick has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities regulatory matters.

His experience includes structuring and negotiating securities and commercial transactions. In addition to his transactional practice, Rick provides general corporate commercial advice to a range of private company clients on day to day matters impacting their businesses, including acting for start-ups from the formation stage all the way through the development cycle of an emerging growth company.

Rick has acted for issuers, investment dealers and advisors in a broad range of industry sectors including: cannabis, mining, oil and gas, technology, renewable energy, agribusiness, investment banks, asset management, real estate, industrial products and manufacturing.

Rudy’s business law practice focuses on mergers & acquisitions and all aspects of corporate commercial work, including assisting clients with governance matters and general business strategy.

Rudy’s technology law practice focuses on corporate and commercial services and transactions for the development, exploitation, commercialization, financing, acquisition, transfer and licensing of technologies and related businesses in the information technology and e-commerce, manufacturing, cleantech, cannabis, energy and life sciences and biotechnology industries. He also assists clients with early-stage financing activities, strategies regarding intellectual property, franchising agreements and documentation, and licensing, collaboration, joint venture, outsourcing and managed services arrangements. Rudy brings a practical and business–oriented approach to the complex challenges clients face in rapidly changing industries.

Rudy is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario. Prior to his career in law, Rudy had been employed with several multinational corporations in the pharmaceutical, chemical and related industries in various capacities including supervising manufacturing, technical services, product and market development, commercial management and marketing and business development management. This experience has provided Rudy with a deep appreciation of the importance of understanding clients’ businesses and industries and allows him to counsel management, operational and legal teams on day-to-day matters from both a technical and legal perspective when it comes to providing clients with legal services.

Artem is a member of the firm’s Business Law and Financial Services Groups.

His practice is focused on structuring and negotiating corporate and commercial transactions, including syndicated lending, mezzanine financing, asset-based lending, acquisition loan facilities and mergers and acquisitions.

Clients appreciate his ability to advise on forward-looking strategies for all phases of their business’ life cycle, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and project financing, growth strategies, reorganizations or buyouts, and exit strategies.  His clients include banks, private equity firms, equity sponsors, and borrowers ranging from small family run businesses, Indigenous communities to public companies across a variety of industries.

Andrea’s practice focuses on employment law.

As a partner in the Employment and Labour Group, Andrea represents employers in wrongful dismissal actions and provides advice to employers in all facets of employment law including negotiating and drafting employment agreements, severance packages, confidentiality agreements, non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements, termination letters and human resource policies.

Andrea also provides advice to employers regarding employment standards, human rights and human resource issues. Andrea frequently attends the workplace itself to provide training seminars and to conduct workplace investigations. She has significant experience in injunctive proceedings as they relate to the enforcement of restrictive covenants contained in employment contracts.

Andrea publishes a newsletter entitled Employment Matters and is bilingual in English and French.
