Litigation Associate – Insolvency and Restructuring

Are you ready to take the next step in your legal career?

We are currently seeking a highly motivated lawyer to work as an Associate in our very busy and expanding commercial litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Represent clients in bankruptcy, insolvency, and restructuring matters, including CCAA and BIA proceedings.
  2. Provide legal counsel to lenders, creditors, debtors, trustees, and receivers in insolvency-related transactions and litigation.
  3. Draft and review court materials, security agreements, forbearance agreements, and restructuring plans.
  4. Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on insolvency and commercial litigation matters.
  5. Assist in negotiations and settlements related to distressed assets, secured transactions, and creditor rights.
  6. Advocate for clients in court proceedings, including motions, applications, and trials.
  7. Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners on complex insolvency matters and corporate restructurings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. 1-3 years of post-call experience in insolvency, restructuring, and related litigation at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  2. Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  3. Strong knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA), Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), and related statutes.
  4. Experience representing clients in court and handling insolvency-related negotiations.
  5. Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail.
  7. Strong business acumen and client relationship skills.
