Summer Student Program
Our summer program is designed to introduce you to the firm and the practice of law. Given the short time you are at the firm, during the summer program, you will spend the entire summer in one practice rotation. When you return to article, you will then have the opportunity to spend time in each of the five practice areas.
While in a practice group, you will work with a variety of lawyers. You will be encouraged to participate in the social events held over the course of the summer to ensure that you get to know our other summer students, lawyers and support staff.
Our articling program is designed to expose students to each of our five main areas of practice.
The Fogler, Rubinoff student experience includes an educational program that focuses on a comprehensive range of subjects and issues.
The program is comprised of seminars and workshops presented by various members of the firm, as well as presenters from outside the firm. Topics are chosen in a variety of areas of specialization to reflect real-life situations and provide practical plans of action in approaching legal problems in addition to practical topics such as practice and time management.
Guidance and Support
The Chair of the Student Committee is a dedicated resource to guide and help you address issues and meet your educational and professional goals. The Chair of this Committee also acts as a liaison between lawyers, staff and students. In addition, you will be assigned a lawyer who is designated as your mentor to provide additional support and guidance as well as providing constructive feedback during the articling period to ensure that you are exposed to all of the elements of our firm's articling education plan, as approved by the Law Society of Ontario.
Each of the summer and articling students is assigned a mentor as an additional dedicated resource. The mentors are generally Senior Associates or Junior Partners who are committed to the student's professional development. Mentors and students are encouraged to meet on a regular basis to discuss any number of topics, and to assist with the integration of the student into the firm.
